At the SPX Flow Technology facility in Houston, Texas, employees took a break from work to enjoy a fun chili cook-off contest between all employees who wished to participate.
Employees who wanted to show off their chili cooking skills could form teams of up to five people. If employees did not want to make a chili dish, they could also choose to be a judge for the contest. The teams were asked to bring a crockpot of their unique chili for the judges to taste test.
“The chili cook off increased employee engagement at the Houston facility by fostering camaraderie and teamwork,” said Kaitlin Henze, human resources generalist, SPX Flow Technology. “Chili is a favorite Texan dish, so employees were excited to share their traditional recipes.”
At the end of the taste-testing, the top three teams won prizes that included Houston Rocket tickets, Houston Astros tickets, and SPX gear. The overall winning team was from the sales department and went by the name of “Kibbles and Bits”. According to the judges, the chili had a variety of meat and beans with a unique flavor that had a kick to it, but wasn’t too overpowering.
Following the contest, all employees who wanted to try the various chili recipes were invited to do so.
