SPX Bolting Systems Secure $1.2 Million Order in Qatar

SPX Bolting Systems in the Middle East has secured a $1.2 million order to provide tools and equipment to Pretect, a Qatar-based mechanical support company working on a major, five-year shutdown program for a Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) client.

The Middle East SPX Bolting Systems unit will be supported by its UK counterpart in what amounts to one of the largest-ever orders for the division.

“The SPX Bolting Systems brand is relatively new to the region, so we are particularly pleased to be able to support our preferred Qatar bolting partner, Pretect, in this way," said SPX Bolting Systems' Middle East Regional Sales Manager Wales Thomas. “We also trained 40-plus Pretect staff for mechanical bolting activities to API standards and expect a similar quantity in early 2015."

Pretect specializes in maintenance, inspection, mechanical support and customized, long-term solutions to ensure plant reliability and asset integrity.

As part of the contractual agreement, SPX provided calculation software to Pretect and its client. SPX also supported Pretect in Qatar during the initial kick-off meeting at the client's headquarters in Doha. The client showed strong interest in the SPX FLANGEPRO Integrity Management Software, which Pretect will manage and facilitate on site.

The SPX FlangePro Adviser software has recently been used by Pretect-TFS at Basra Gas in Iraq. The company plans to introduce it to its other clients in Qatar.
