Votator® II Scraped Surface Heat Exchangers

Scraped_Surface_Heat_Exchanger_Tube_Jacket_CalloutsThe Votator II Scraped Surface Heat Exchangers (SSHE) provide reliable and efficient heating or cooling for a wide range of viscous or high-fouling products, including soups, butter, margarine, mechanically deboned meat, cream cheese, nut butters, creams, dressings, dips and sauces.

How the Votator II SSHE works:

Product flows through an inner tube which is surrounded by a jacket containing a heating or cooling medium. An inner mutator shaft with blades rotates continuously to remove product from the heat transfer tube walls to increase heat transfer efficiency, reduce fouling and ensure long runtimes.

In 1925 Waukesha Cherry-Burrell revolutionized the production and control of crystallized foods with the invention of its Votator SSHE. Today, the design of the Votator II SSHE is based on this vast experience to provide robust, reliable and efficient heat transfer with options to match the needs of a wide range of applications. These applications include dairy, food, beverage and personal care applications, such as products with particles, heat-sensitive, sticky or high fouling fluids and products with viscosities up to 1,000,000 cP

Reliable and easy to use

  • Easy installation with horizontal and vertical mounting options, ideal where space is limited
  • Straightforward maintenance (see video) with easily removable shaft and unique locking groove blade design.
  • Easy to maintain, self-aligning integral gear drive. No need for secondary drive and bearing block
  • Reliable double O-ring seal on each end eliminates the need for an expansion joint
  • Tough 2” (50mm) shaft spine

Flexible

  • Many options available to match application needs – including blade materials, tube materials, drives, seal types
  • Concentric, eccentric or oval heat transfer tubes available

Votator II Extra Heavy Duty

  • Same overall dimensions as standard Votator II models
  • Meets the most demanding duties with high torque 17-4 PH stainless steel drive spline with direct drives up to 30 Hp (22kW)
  • Efficient heating or cooling of products in the 1,000,000,000 cP range

USDA, CFIA, 3A and ASME design standard; CE-PED optional

The Votator portfolio offers a choice of models to meet various needs – from the Votator 4x series to the Votator II models which offer a huge selection of features and options including an Extra Heavy Duty model with up to a 30hp motor. All are hygienically designed for use in a wide range of food, cosmetic and personal care applications including sauces, soups, creams, mechanically deboned meat, cheeses, peanut butter and many more. Models are precisely engineered and can be customized to specific customer requirements.

Votator II SSHE models and components are available in a variety of configurations to match application and flow requirements.

  • All pressure elements are designed in accordance with the latest ASME
  • Drives from 7½ to 20 HP (5.6 to 15 kW)
  • Wide range of output speeds
  • Chrome-plated nickel or carbon steel, and stainless steel heat transfer tubes specially designed for enhanced heat transfer
  • Stainless steel or plastic blades, including new metal-detectable plastic blades
  • Mutator shaft diameter based on fluid properties, 2½", 4", 4½" and 5¼" (63, 102, 114, and 133 mm)
  • Single and double mechanical seals
  • Tube wall thickness is precisely engineered to optimize heat transfer while maximizing structural stability
