Theory of Operation

The IECEx CU ex ia control unit is designed for managing process valves in explosive atmospheres in food and beverage, chemicals, personal care, pharmaceuticals industries and other related sectors.​

This control unit acts as an interface between the process control systems and the process valves, handling both electrical and pneumatic signals.  Using built-in or external sensors it monitors the positions of the valves, namely their "open" and "closed" positions.

Intrinsically safe solenoid valves are connected to the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) through isolation amplifiers. Similarly, signals from the intrinsically safe valve position indicators are sent to the PLC via these isolation amplifiers. Solenoid valves are responsible for the pneumatic control of our APV valves.​

The control unit manages the valve positions, both open and closed, using either integrated or external sensors. The IECEx CU ex ia control unit is certified as intrinsically safe according to the current standards IEC 60079-0 and IEC 60079-11.  Our control units are approved for use as a Category 2 device for gas-related applications.​
