Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) Evaporators
The Anhydro® Tubular Evaporator with Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) provides efficient, low-temperature concentration of liquid products using mechanical vapor recompression. Built for dairy, food, beverage, chemical and pharmaceutical applications, it offers high thermal performance, low energy consumption and optimal product quality even for the most heat-sensitive formulations.
In modern processing environments, energy efficiency, product quality and plant uptime are critical for competitiveness. The Anhydro Tubular MVR Evaporator helps processors:
- Minimize energy consumption in thermal processing
- Preserve flavor, color and nutrients in delicate formulations
- Increase uptime and reduce fouling with gentle, single-pass design
The Anhydro Tubular MVR Evaporator solves these challenges with:
- Mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) for energy savings – minimal or no live steam required once operational
- Closed-loop vapor recycling using a high-pressure fan to recompress vapor and reuse it as a heating medium
- Low-temperature falling film evaporation for gentle product handling
- Single-pass evaporation for high throughput and minimal fouling
- Engineered static liquid distribution for full tube wetting, maximizing runtime and preventing dry spots
- Optional split calandria for multi-pass or staged concentration
- Modular, compact design for new installations or plant upgrades
- Fully automated controls for process monitoring, traceability and integration

Theory of Operation
The Anhydro Tubular MVR Evaporator concentrates liquid products through falling film evaporation powered by mechanical vapor recompression (MVR). A high-pressure fan compresses vapor from the process to a higher pressure and temperature, enabling it to be reused as the heating medium.
This closed-loop system significantly reduces or eliminates the need for external steam, delivering exceptional thermal efficiency. Operating under vacuum conditions, the system preserves product integrity while minimizing energy costs. In many cases, MVR concentration is followed by additional processing in a TVR or forced circulation evaporator for further concentration or crystallization control.
